A home for Wendy !

It's my turn to share a Friday Focus over at Frilly and Funkie and today I'm focussing on Wendy Vecchi stamps.

I decided to make a home for my Wendy Vecchi stamps and here's a preview but hop over to the main blog for all of the details.

Dabbling with Dylusions !

For my Eclectic Paperie DT project this week I decided to have a play with my Dylusions sprays. I am still learning how to use these lovely inks so my journal is the best place to do some dabbling !

I started by spraying Lemon Zest and Fresh Lime on to the page. I then dried it off with my heat gun, I've found that if I don't I end up with a muddy colour !

I then  used the Chevron stencil with Vibrant Turquoise and flipped it over to use the ink on top of the stencil. I did the same with the Wendy Vecchi Dotty stencil using Squeezed Orange. At this point I wasn't liking what I was seeing !

I then used the Wendy Vecchi Layered Flowers stencil with some white acrylic paint. I grabbed the Spinning Tops stencil and my Mowed Lawn Distress ink and used it around the edges. Then used the Art Is stencil with Black Soot Distress ink.

I stamped the flowers from the Wendy Vecchi Art Colors Life set with black Archival ink. I used Wendy Vecchi's black Embossing Paste with the Bingo stencil and I also stencilled the word Remember using the Wendy Vecchi Classic Words stencil.

I highlighted the numbers using my Posca pen and rubbed some Classic Treasure Gold over the word Remember. The little tag has had Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks blended over it and I've used the Reversed Chicken Wire stencil with some more Ripe Persimmon DI. The sentiment is from the Wendy Vecchi A Form of Art set which I thought it was quite appropriate !

I think it turned out OK in the end but I still think there's lots more dabbling to be done !

My Steamer Trunk !

Today is the turn of the Funkie side of the Frilly and Funkie DT to share their projects for the current challenge. The lovely Cec has chosen My Steamer Trunk, so what we would love to see are projects with the theme of travel, and possibly what you would pack or what desitnation you're going to !

I don't make many cards these days and as my other half's birthday is coming up soon I thought I would take this opportunity to make his birthday card. Photography is his hobby, so that got me thinking about what he would pack for a trip abroad. The gorgeous old fashioned camera is a Darkroom Door stamp and I stamped it first in black Archival ink and then masked it off to do the rest of the stamping. The stack of cases are also a Darkroom Door stamp and I've used coffee Archival ink. The Eiffel Tower and post card stamps are both Artistic Outpost. I then used the film stamp from the Darkroom Door set and stamped around the edge of a piece of card to use as the next layer. The layer below is stamped with post marks, again by Darkroom Door and I've paper pierced around the edge.

The little note book is made from pages from an old book and I've used one of those cheap little alphabet sets to stamp the word 'notes'. I used a brad to keep the book shut and then added an Ideaology pen nib. The very bottom layer (which you can hardly see!) is made from some card that I've blended Distress Inks over, embossed using the Mosaic EF then used embossing ink and clear EP to give it a leathery look.

I hope you get time to join us for this challenge and do make sure you hop over to the main blog and check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects.

So, for those in the UK, only 24 hours to go until Tim's workshop ! Can't wait ! If you're on the morning session, see you there !

Sew 'n' Sew !

It's my turn to host the challenge over at The Fashionable Stamping Challenge and I've chosen quite an easy theme and one that I know always goes down well. So for the next 2 weeks we want to see anything that either has the theme of sewing or includes some sewing (real or faux). As always there must be some stamping on your project.

I've used a substrate from PaperArtsy which is grey board that is coated with white card. This give a great surface to start from. I've used the Wendy Vecchi stencil Dotty with Grunge Paste in different areas. When it was dry I painted it with Vanilla Fresco Finish paint. Then I used a baby wipe with Vintage Lace and Moccha Mousse FF. I dried this off and then used some Chocolate Pudding FF around the edges, followed by French Roast FF.  I've stencilled with French Roast too and stamped the text from the PaperArtsy Hot Pick 1215 set using Coffee Archival Ink. I did quite a bit more stamping on the background, but looking at it now you can hardly see any of it !

I cut 4 mini mannequins from Kraft card and stuck them together. I then painted it with Vintage Lace FF and when it was dry stamped it with the Wendy Vecchi Vintage Tapestry background stamp using Coffee Archival Ink. I've sponged more FF around the edge and then brushed it with Onyxite Treasure Gold.

The leaves and flowers are from the new Lin Brown stamp set and instead of stamping on to black card I've used brown. I've stamped the flowers withVintage Lace and some Sherbert and Blood Orange FF in the centre. I've used the text stamp from the Hot Picks 1215 set over the flowers and the leaves using Coffee Archival Ink. I used a little plastic flower for the centre of one of the flowers that's been painted with Vintage Lace, then dabbed with Chocolate Pudding and when dry I've brushed Onyxite Treasure gold over it. I painted some card with more Vintage Lace and stamped the sewing room sign and mounted it onto brown card. The two thread cards are stamped onto Kraft card stock and then I've used Distress Inks around the edge. I brushed some more Onyxite Treasure Gold around the edge and added some buttons.

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge and do make sure you hop over to the main blog to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous work !

Butterfly tag !

For my Eclectic Paperie DT piece this week I've made a jumbo tag using lots of Distress Inks !

I started  by stamping the 2 daisy stamps from the Wendy Vecchi Daisy Art set with Embossing Ink and used white EP.

I then used the Seasonal Distress Inks and blended it over the tag and the embossing. I then wiped over the embossing using a baby wipe.

I then  did some Spritz and Flick and then used the TCW Vine stencil and Peacock Feathers DI.

I used the TCW Mini Swirly Vines stencil with Mowed Lawn DI and the Bingo stencil with Black Soot DI.

I then stamped the butterfly from the Wendy Vecchi Nature's Art set onto to card that I'd blended DI over. I also stamped the butterfly onto some Clearly for Art and molded the wings while it was still warm and glued the Clearly for Art onto the card.

I painted a leaf art part with Fresco Finish paint and stamped the script from the Tim Holtz French Marketplace over it. The sentiment is also from a Wendy Vecchi set and I've cut it up so that it would fit in the tag. I then mounted the tag onto black card to frame it.

Here's a close up to show you how the Clearly for Art keeps its shape.

I'm also entering this into the Country View Crafts challenge which is quotes and sayings - the quote I've used is from the Wendy Vecchi 'Be happy....Make Art' stamp set.

Hope you have a lovely week end !

At the seaside !

Today I'm sharing my DT project for the Funkie side of the Frilly and Funkie current challenge. Rebecca is our hostess and has chosen the theme of By the Seaside. Here's what Rebecca has to say:

The sand, sea, sun and seawater are the focus of this challenge. We are to use seashells (real or images) and summer at the seaside to guide our creativity!

I decided to use three coasters for this project. For the first one I've painted it with Snowflake Fresco Finish and when dry I've used Mermaid Fresco Finish with a baby wipe so the coat of paint wasn't perfect as I wanted some of the white to show through.

I then used the Wendy Vecchi Yikes Stripes stencil and the Bubble Doily stencil. Then I stamped the text from a Crafty Individuals set with Cobalt Archival ink and the shells are from the Artistic Outpost Boardwalk set. The main image is from the same Artistic Outpost set and I've stamped it onto a piece of card that's been painted with Fresco Finish paint and then painted parts of the image. The sentiment is from the Crafty Individuals set.

For this coaster I applied the paint with the firm side of Cut 'n' Dry which didn't blend the paint together completely, and I really like the effect.

I used the Bubble Doily stencil again with Snowflake Fresco Finish. Then I used the Dots and Stripes Wendy Vecchi stencil to create the candy stripe down the left hand edge. The background text stamp is from the Crafty Individuals set and the rest of the stamps are from the Artistic Outpost Boardwalk set.

For the third coaster I've painted it again with Snowflake and then Mermaid Fresco Finish paints. Then I've used the Wendy Vecchi Polka Dotty stencil. I stencilled the darker dots then moved the stencil and covered them and then stencilled the white dots. I then used a baby wipe to add a little Vanilla Fresco Finish over the top.

The background text stamps are from the Crafty Individuals stamps set and again I've used Cobalt Archival ink. The main image is also from this set and I decided to stamp straight on to the coaster but the image didn't transfer too well so I've painted it to make it stand out a little more. I then used the sentiment stamp from the Artistic Outpost Boardwalk set and cut it into pieces before sticking it on to the coaster.

Here's the finished trio ! I'm not sure if I will leave them as singles or use them in future projects.

Make sure you hop over to the main blog to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects.

I'm also entering this project into the Artistic Outpost Referral Programme which is anything goes and the August Crafty Individuals challenge which is also anything goes.

Something completely different !

It's time for the next challenge over at The Fashionable Stamping Challenge and for the next 2 weeks our theme is Clean and Simple. Now I have to say this really is not my thing and I have struggled to create anything that I'm happy with, but then that's what a challenge is all about ! Needless to say you won't see this style from me very often !

I used one of the new mini's that I had a hand in creating from PaperArtsy and stamped it with Smokey Grey Versafine ink. You'll find my recent project made with the new mini's from PaperArtsy here. I then stamped the flower from the Wendy Vecchi Daisy Art stamp set. The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz Simple Sayings set and the three little dots are made using the full stop stamp from one of those little alphabet sets. The little butterfly is a stamp from The Stamp Man.

I painted the flower using Distress Markers and I've flicked some Weathered Wood Distress Stains over the card (which I've just noticed I've smudged!). I don't know why but my Distress Stains seem to be going a funny green colour, the above should be a smokey blue !

Make sure you hop over to the main blog to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous work.

So, that's it in a nutshell ! This is a scheduled post as I'm at the Stamperama craft show today, so you never know I may see you there !

And the winners are .......

I have to say I have been blown away by all of the fabulous comments I've received not only on my finale piece but all of the projects for PaperArtsy. It has certainly been an experience I won't forget in a hurry, if at all. Thank you all so much !

So, moving on to the important matter at hand, I couldn't fathom out the random number thingy so I resorted to good old fashioned paper in a bowl to pick the 2 winning names for the PaperArtsy prizes. My other half picked the names from the bowl and the winners are .....

Congratulations Fliss and Kate ! If you would like to send me your address to carringtons22@yahoo.co.uk I'll get your prizes in the post to you.

PaperArtsy Birthday !

So, here we are at my final guest designer post for PaperArtsy and what better way to finish than with a project for PaperArtsy's 10th birthday ! It's a really special project tonight as there are 3 new stamps being released (which are gorgeous!) and Leandra has very kindly offered 2 prizes that I will be giving away to 2 lucky people who leave a comment on this post.I will draw the winners on Friday of this week.

I have had such a ball creating all of my projects using the fabulous PaperArtsy products. If you've not used the Fresco Finish paints yet......then you really need to ! It just leaves me to say a huge thank you to Leandra for giving me this opportunity and to check out all of the details of tonight's project you need to hop over here.

Looking forward now to seeing the next semester of guest designers !

Games we play !

For my Eclectic Paperie DT project this week I opted to do another page in my journal. I find it strange that I really wasn't interested in journalling, I couldn't see the point, yet now I've no sooner finished one page than I'm thinking about what I can do on the next ! The current Get Altered challenge that the lovely Bonnie has chosen is Game On. So this got me thinking how I could use this on my journal page.

I started by using different Distress Stains over my page. The paper sucked up the ink straight away so the ink didn't blend how I'd hoped but I quite liked the effect.

I then started to stencil ! I've used Fresco Finish acrylic paints with various stencils. The check is made using the Wendy Vecchi Yikes Stripes stencil in different directions.

I used the Bingo stencil with black Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste. When the paste was dry I brushed it with Florentine Treasure Gold. The cards are Tim Holtz Ideaology Alpha Cards and I've blended Black Soot Distress Ink around the edge of them. The stamped words are made using one of those little alphabet stamp sets and the word 'play' is cut using the Tim Holtz WordPlay die from card that I've used the Yikes Stripes stencil on.

I used some more black embossing paste to stick the cards to the page and then brushed some more Treasure Gold over it when dry.
